Dust Extraction & Odour Control

Vastum, in partnership with MVT, supplies dust extraction, air filtration and odour-control systems for waste, recycling, composting, biomass and general industry across Australia. We capture dust, fumes and VOCs at source, treat odour before discharge, and engineer explosion and fire protection into any plant handling combustible dust.

Extraction, filtration, odour control and explosion protection as one system.

Where we work

Why operators choose Vastum

01

MVT partnership

Vastum brings MVT — Mion Ventoltermica, a market leader in air suction and filtration since 1968 with more than 55 years’ experience — to Australian sites.

02

Cleaner, safer air

Systems remove dust, fumes, vapours and VOCs to protect workers, keep the site compliant and stop dust fouling downstream stages such as biofiltration.

03

ATEX by design

Where combustible dust is present, explosion and fire protection is engineered into the plant — panels, suppressors, spark detectors and fire dampers — not bolted on afterwards.

04

Built into your process

Extraction, filtration and odour treatment sized to your air volume and dust type, and integrated with the process that generates it.

Dust Extraction & Odour Control — FAQs

What types of industrial filters are available?
Self-cleaning bag filters (incl. ATEX versions), cyclones/cyclone-filters, settling (decanting) cyclones, activated carbon filters, cartridge filters, pocket filters, and dry scrubber filters (ATEX) for paint booths.
How do I know which filter type I need?
It depends on the pollutant: fine dry dust generally needs a bag filter; coarse or heavy particulate can be pre-separated with a cyclone; oily mist needs pocket filters; solvent vapours/VOC need activated carbon; and potentially explosive dusts require explosion-protected (ATEX-derived) versions of any of the above.
How is odour treated, as opposed to dust?
Odour, acid gases and VOCs are stripped from the air stream using wet scrubbers and biofilters rather than dry bag filters — used heavily in composting, organics, waste and wastewater applications.
What explosion-protection devices does Vastum supply?
Explosion-proof (vent) panels, explosion-proof silo tops, flame suppressors, non-return (backflow) valves, chemical suppressors, spark detectors, fire dampers, “Flameproof EX” star valves, and ATEX-rated enclosures for electrical components.
What silo sizes are available?
Storage systems ranging from around 50 m³ up to 12,000 m³, sized to the material type and throughput required.
